Biblical Reasons for Obeying God

Introduction: 
  • One of the most clear truths of the Bible is that one may not succeed while being willfully disobedient to God.
  • It was to King Saul that the words were spoken.
     Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifices and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. I Samuel 15:22,23
  • From these verses, as many others, we understand that there is no substitute for simple obedience.
  • One of the greatest of man's abilities is his will. The depth of our sinfulness is that we can sin against God. The essence of spiritually is to choose the will of God - in spite of personal desire and advantage
