The Christian and the Law of God

Introduction: 
  • In the Bible the word "law" or words nlaw of God" are used many times and in a great variety of ways.
    The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul . . . . Psalm 19:7
    And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth* Luke 2:39
  • As a general summary it would be correct to say that the meaning of the "law of God" would be "the will of God as made known in the Bible."
  • It is important to recognize that God's law and will is an expression of His Parson. He has revealed Himself to us in His Word.
  • It is helpful to recognize that the law of God may be divided into Civil Law (regulations between persons), Ceremonial Law (the Levitical Priesthood), and the Moral Law (the Ten Commandments).
