Some Characteristics of the Kingdom of God

Introduction:
  • God’s Kingdom may be described as “The manifestation of God’s will and rule among men,” or “The invasion of Jesus Christ into enemy territory to establish the redemptive will of God through love, holiness, truth and power.”
  • While the Kingdom of God was present in the Old Testament, the full manifestation did not come until the Birth of the Lord Jesus. And, we look forward to a complete application of that Kingdom when the Lord Jesus returns.
  • “Jesus message is that in his own person and mission God has invaded human history and has triumphed over evil, even though the final deliverance will occur only at the end of the age.” (George Ladd, A Theology of the New Testament, Eerdmans, 1974, pp. 67,68)
